Very interesting article today from HR Grapevine. A company are taking some pretty brave steps to curb employees blagging sick days when they are suffering from the shenanigans of the night before.
Dice who are the company in question have introduced "Hangover Days" for their staff, all they need to do is message their boss with a 'Music', 'Beer' or 'Sick emoji' this will then be logged as a "Hang Over Day".
The caveat being that it either has to be a gig work related function. Whilst this may not allow for random nights out and just casually getting wasted I think it is a very cool initiative it shows trust and respect between employees and companies. Will this be something likely to be a trend? who knows
What are your thoughts?
For workers who enjoy a mid-week night out and reset the rules – without regard for decent, sober sleep – there’s one firm that’s shifting the goalposts when it comes to hangover ‘sick’ days – Metro reports. At some point during their career, a decent proportion of UK workers will find themselves waking up on a weekday morning with an army of tiny ninjas practising nun-chuks in the most sensitive areas of their skull. Ninjas that have been geared on overpriced beer and not-so-small glasses of wine from the previous evening. As a result, one or two ‘sick’ days have occurred.
